More than a name — a complete cosmological truth encoded in two words, spanning the distance between the human soul and its Creator.
In Hindu spiritual symbolism, Radha is the supreme devotee of Krishna — her boundless longing represents the soul's yearning to return to God. In Radha Soami, every seeker is Radha: searching, incomplete, longing for reunion.
Soami (from Sanskrit Swami) means Lord or Master. Here it refers to the Supreme Being — the ultimate reality from which all souls descended into creation, and to which all souls must return.
"Lord of the Soul." The name encapsulates the entire spiritual journey. The soul (Radha) was separated from its Lord (Soami). This path is the way back. Every teaching, practice, and vow serves this one purpose.
In Gaudiya Vaishnavism, Radha is the Hladini Shakti — the blissful, creative energy of Krishna, inseparable from him as sunshine from the sun. The soul's separation from God is not a punishment but a temporary state — a longing built into existence itself, awaiting its resolution.

Radha Soami is the modern crystallization of Sant Mat — the "Path of the Saints" — a lineage of North Indian mystic-saints stretching back centuries who all taught the same core truth.
A lineage of saints who all proclaimed: God is not found in temples, mosques, or churches — God is found within, as a living Sound and Light.
Weaver-saint of Varanasi. Rejected caste and ritual. Taught the inner Divine Sound is accessible to anyone, regardless of birth or status.
Founder of Sikhism. Deeply influenced by the inner Sound Current (Shabd / Naam) theology. "In the beginning was the Word."
Of Hathras. Systematized the path of Surat Shabd Yoga in its modern form. The direct bridge to Shiv Dayal Singh.
Shiv Dayal Singh (Soami Ji Maharaj, 1818–1878), a deeply private mystic, begins publicly teaching the path. He called the Supreme Being Radhasoami and taught that the way home was through the inner Shabd, guided by a living Master. His collected discourses, the Sar Bachan, remain foundational scripture of the entire tradition.
Baba Jaimal Singh (1839–1903), a soldier in the British Indian Army and initiated disciple of Soami Ji, settles on the banks of the Beas River and establishes Dera Baba Jaimal Singh — the headquarters of what becomes RSSB.
Under Baba Sawan Singh, RSSB transforms from a regional movement into a global spiritual organization. Hundreds of thousands receive initiation. He authors influential texts and establishes the Dera as one of the great spiritual centers of India.
Maharaj Charan Singh authors landmark English-language books (Die to Live, Spiritual Discourses, The Path) and expands RSSB to every continent. His discourses crystallize the philosophy in accessible, modern language for a global audience.
Designated by Maharaj Charan Singh on the night of his own passing. Baba Ji has guided RSSB for over three decades. Today RSSB has millions of initiates across more than 100 countries, with hundreds of satsang centers worldwide.

One central claim: the soul is a spark of God, currently imprisoned in matter and mind. The purpose of human life — the rarest of all life forms — is to find the way back.
The universe is not flat. RSSB teaches a hierarchical structure of five planes through which the soul descended — and through which it must now ascend, guided by the Master and the inner Sound Current.

Naam is not merely a word. It is the primordial vibration through which all creation came into being — the "Audible Life Stream" that sustains all existence and serves as the medium through which the soul ascends back to its source.

A central and unique tenet of Radha Soami: a living, human, authorized Master (Satguru) is not optional — it is the prerequisite for liberation.

Three pillars of daily practice. Four vows of commitment. One destination — the reunion of the soul with its Creator.
The continuous, silent mental repetition of the five holy names (Panch Naam) received at initiation. These resonate at specific planes of creation and serve as guides during the soul's inner journey — collecting scattered attention at the Third Eye (Tisra Til), the seat of the soul in the body.
Gazing inwardly at the radiant form of the Master with the inner eye. This is not idol worship — it is a precise technique. The Master's internalized form becomes the inner guide, leading the soul upward and helping it recognize the inner Light.
The deepest practice. Once the mind is stilled through Simran and attention focused through Dhyan, the practitioner begins to hear the Shabd — the inner Sound Current. The soul is drawn upward by it like a moth to flame, ascending through the planes toward Sach Khand.
When a seeker receives Naam Daan (initiation), they commit to four lifelong vows — not as rules imposed from outside, but as the natural discipline that creates the conditions for inner spiritual work.
No meat, fish, or eggs. The principle of ahimsa (non-violence) — consuming life creates karma that binds the soul to further cycles of rebirth.
No alcohol, drugs, or mind-altering substances. The mind must be clear and under conscious control for inner travel to be possible.
Living ethically, honestly, with compassion — fulfilling all worldly responsibilities with integrity while on the inner path.
A minimum of 2.5 hours per day — 1.5 hrs of Simran + Dhyan, followed by 1 hr of Bhajan. Every single day, without exception.
RSSB makes no claim to exclusivity. Initiates remain Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh — outer identity is irrelevant. The organization charges absolutely no fees for initiation or teachings. Everything is run by volunteers (sewadars).

Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon — designated in 1990, guiding RSSB for over three decades. Known for a direct, uncompromising, often humorous style. He speaks plainly, using modern examples, and challenges spiritual complacency without reservation.
The ego and mind are the real veils between soul and God. The mind will give you a thousand reasons to skip meditation. The entire spiritual practice is a war with your own mind — and meditation is the weapon.
One of his most uncompromising teachings: sitting with closed eyes while your mind wanders is not meditation. The 2.5 hours must be real, focused inner work — not ritual performance.
He defines love as something beyond worldly attachment — transformative, unconditional, asking nothing in return, not even acknowledgment. Many come seeking favors. He redirects them entirely to the inner practice.
Every tradition points toward the same destination. If your religion makes you hate, judge, or divide — you have missed the point entirely. He quotes the Bible, Quran, Gurbani, and Sufi poets interchangeably and without distinction.
He speaks of death plainly — as the soul's release, and the only question that ultimately matters: did you use this human life for what you came here to do?
Human birth is the rarest and most precious form of life — the only one in which the soul has the capacity and intellect to find a Master and practice Naam. The clock is always ticking.
